Golden Globes Makeup – no need to break the bank!

I have to say, I’m a cosmetics product hog…but I’m always super impressed when I hear that big stars and celebrity makeup artists are using products that can be easily bought at the closest Shoppers Drug Mart.

When researching Emma Stone’s smokin’ hot Golden Globes makeup, I discovered that Rachel Goodwin, makeup artist to the stars, chose beautiful gunmetal and pewter shades from Revlon ColorStay 16H eyeshadow quad in ‘Precocious’ as well as Revlon ColorBurst lip butter in ‘Lollipop’. She combined these affordable products along with her stellar skill and created this red-carpet-worthy look for Stone.

And, while she’s received some flack over the hair look, Zooey Deschanel’s makeup for the Globes was gorgeous and fresh, and I really appreciate that her makeup artist, Jorjee Douglass, used mainly Rimmel London products. I’m also a huge fan of that brand! Douglass created a perfect cat-eye with Rimmel London’s Glam Eyes professional liquid liner and smoked it up a bit with Rimmel London Glam Eyes HD quad eyeshadow in ‘Black Cab’ and ‘English Rose’. To keep the focus on the eyes, Douglass chose a neutral lip colour: Rimmel London Lasting Finish Intense Wear lipstick in ‘Nude Pink’.

This all goes to show you that you don’t have to go off-Island or break the bank on your cosmetics in order to get a red carpet look!

I always say that beautiful makeup is much more about what tools and skills you use, not about your product. So, my advice? Invest in great brushes and practise, practise, practise! And, of course…have fun!
