I was honoured to be asked to do the makeup for the Music PEI Awards Gala 2011 this past Saturday. Though I didn’t get a chance to take many photos, here’s a snap of one of the lovely trophy girls, Leslie!

I’d also like to congratulate my clients: Richard Wood on his win for Roots/Traditional Solo Recording of the Year, and Cynthia MacLeod and Chastity for their nominations. And, of course, a huge congratulations to my husband, Todd MacLean, for his win for Music of the Year!
The Divine Details Bridal Showcase featuring Randy Fenoli was presented by Katharina’s Bridal Boutique last Friday at the Delta Prince Edward in Charlottetown, PEI. What a wonderful occasion!!
As you may recall from my previous post, I was ‘madly googling’ how-to directions and vendors’ tips trying to prepare for my booth. All of my research coupled with some creativity and my branding, eventually paid off!!
^ This calm shot was taken just before the doors opened to let in about 600 excited brides-to be and their ‘assistants’!
About an hour and half later, I was able to bring my head up for air and couple of quick action shots of the view from my booth.

…and to my right:
After handing out about 500 business cards, the Katharina’s Bridal Boutique runway show featuring models from Panache Models began, followed by the magnanimous Randy Fenoli of Say Yes to the Dress! with an hour-long presentation about his career and hopes and wishes for the brides in attendance.
Photographer and Panache Models Director, Kimberly Rashed, shared the booth with me, and we were lucky enough to meet and chat with Randy the night before the big show.
What a wonderful man!! And what a fantastic suit!! =)
My positive feelings for the success of the show were further boosted with three bookings for weddings within a day! Making bookings for 2011, 2012, and even 2013 really pumps me up for the future!
A few months ago, I decided to delve into the world of ‘vendor at a bridal show’. But not just any old bridal show – the Divine Details Bridal Show with Randy Fenoli! I am more than excited to meet the man of Say Yes to the Dress.
I’d never done a bridal show, and have pretty much only networked from word of mouth and over facebook. I was up for the challenge!
The decision was an easy one to make.
Then came the scrambling to figure out just what I had signed up for…
After madly googling ‘bridal expo’, ‘wedding trade show’, ‘makeup artist vendor’, and other more ridiculous searches, I finally peeled myself away from the computer long enough to think about what is important for me to showcase – my mad makeup artistry skills and my branding.
So, I’ve arranged for a few ladies to be on-site for me to do demos with, and I’ve designed my booth to represent me in my colours: black, white, eggplant purple, and silver. It’s going to be lovely! And complete with pompoms! And I will be there to answer any and all questions from to-be-brides, mothers, bridesmaids, groomzillas, and other guests.
Katharina’s Bridal Boutique is presenting the show, and there are already over 500 tickets sold.
Where: The Delta, Charlottetown
When: Doors open at 4:30pm on Friday, January 21, 2011
Tickets are only $10, and you can get more info by calling 519-854-6262 or emailing divinedetails@rogers.com.
I hope to see YOU there!!!

Ok, so yes this is a makeup blog…but I enjoy exercising my appreciation for beauty, so I thought I would share a peek at my new treasures bought from thrift shops. Check these great finds out!
I am LOVING the simple and sleek makeup look for Winter 2010-2011 of dark smokey eyes, matte skin, and a nude lip! It’s a classic, dramatic look that everyone should test this season.
The key to making it work for you? Find the right shape for your eye and face shape! This might take a few tries where you’ll sway from trashy to zombie-ish, but the trick is to get the right amount of drama to complement your face shape, personality and style.
A clean and classic smokey eye will usually be in a round shape directly on and around the apple of the eye lid, then brought under the eye mid-way to enhance the look of the bottom lashes.
For a more dramatic look, create an almond-shape by bringing the outside edge to a point. Here’s an example of a more dramatic look:

It has been my pleasure to join so many beautiful brides on their wedding days this spring and summer!! What an joyously busy and bustling time!! I hope to post a few photos of ‘my’ brides soon, but for now, please visit Light & Vision Photography for a sneak peek of my very first bride of the 2010 wedding season: Lucy.
Over the Canada Day weekend, I had the pleasure of doing makeup for the models at the Fringe Urban Zone at SummerFest 2010 in Charlottetown. Along with two other MUAs, we’ve got quite a few great shots. Here are some photos from the event!
